Program Overview

The Associate of Applied Science in Business degree offered by Front Range Community College is a program of study intended for individuals who wish to earn a self-designed business degree that meets both their professional needs and busy schedules. An objective of this program is to prepare graduates for immediate acquisition of entry-level positions of employment in the field of business. This program may be ideal for an individual who wishes to gain advanced education, but who cannot fully commit to a full-time course schedule.

The required courses in this program cover basic business concepts and theories. This curriculum combines general education courses with other core classes in order to assist students in building a foundational set of skills and knowledge related to the competencies of higher education and the field of business.

Students are required to complete 60 credit hours of courses in order to graduate from this program. While in these courses, students should gain important competencies in a wide variety of subject matters and hone their critical thinking skills and analysis. Students must take courses in the following subject areas: English, College Algebra, Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences, and Natural or Physical Sciences. Students are also required to take 30 credit hours in Foundational Business courses. These courses encompass the basics of Business and include various subject matters related to their field of Business. These courses include: Principles of Accounting, Introduction to Business, and Legal Environment of Business. Students are also required to complete a capstone courseac in their final semester. The additional 15 credit hours of courses are comprised of electives courses, which should reflect a student’s interests and career goals.
