Program Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership and Transformational Change degree offered by Friends University aims to equip its students with transferable skills relating to the areas of communication, self-awareness, and leading group processes through collaborative teamwork. Through multi-disciplinary courses taken from a wide range of subject areas, this program should help students to develop their skills relating to leadership, management, and career related competencies. This program also offers a Bachelor of Arts option, which focuses more on a generalized course of study than this particular curriculum.

The Organizational Leadership and Transformational Change program provides a foundational set of skills and knowledge related to becoming successful managers and leaders. This program aims to help sharpen students’ abilities to successfully influence processes and outcomes in order to achieve a business’s or organization’s desired goals. The multi-disciplinary curriculum helps to provide students with the practical applications and theoretical knowledge to be influential and successful leaders. The curriculum involves courses taken from the areas of Leadership, Behavioral Sciences, and Organizational Development. Students should have acquired the following skills and knowledge by the end of this program: to have a developed sense of emotional intelligence, to have an understanding of organizations, to be able to conduct business research, and to convey the ability to make well informed business decisions.

This program requires students to complete a total of 78 credit hours of courses in General Education and Core Requirements at Friends University. This should add up to at least 124 credit hours total earned in order to graduate. Students are required to take courses in the following general education areas: Writing, Math, Natural Science, Speech or Interpersonal Communications, Religion or Philosophy, Social or Behavioral Sciences, Computer Information Systems, and Liberal Arts or Humanities. Students are also required to take additional electives in their choice of the following subjects: History, Literature, Fine Arts, or Foreign Language / World Culture.
