Program Details

The online Master of Education in Elementary Education (K-6 or K-8) program expands the individuals’ backgrounds in business, psychology, science, computers, or humanities, allowing them to pursue career changes into the field of education.  Students explore a variety of content areas in teaching, including math, language arts, science, social studies, computers, art, and music.  Coursework reviews best practices research while integrating current knowledge about technology, state and federal standards, multiple ways of learning, alternative assessment, reflective practice, and more. 
This program provides three tracks of study:

  • M.Ed. degree and teaching certification
  • M.Ed. only
  • Certification only


  • Degree completion requires from 35-41 credits
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally-accredited college or university with a GPA of 2.8 or greater (4.0 scale)
  • Provisional acceptance for 2.5-2.79 GPA
  • Official transcripts from previously attended college(s)
  • Resume
  • Cover Letter
  • Goal statement
  • When applicable, SAT or ACT scores
  • Successful completion of Praxis Core or approved equivalent
