Program Overview

Forsyth Technical Community College offers a certificate program in Global Logistics Technology for those looking to get a jump-start on an education in the business field. This certificate program only takes 2 semesters and requires only 18 credits for competition. The required courses are as follows: International Business, Introduction to Logistics, Transportation Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Import/Export Management, and Purchasing Logistics. This program is intended to expose students to the basics of Global Logistics and teach them introductory business skills so they can be qualified for entry-level positions in purchasing, material management, warehousing, inventory, transportation coordinators and logistics analysis. The program layout contains not only Classroom instruction, but also field of study experiences, and practical laboratory applications of logistics management and global technology capabilities are included in the program of study. Students are also eligible for certification credentials through the Educational Society for Resource Management (APICS) and the American Society of Transportation and Logistics (AST&L) upon graduation. Graduates are able to work their way up the corporate ladder within the company they work for. Many companies can train employees within or sometimes require their employees to get additional education in this area of study and sometimes will pay for the additional education depending on how long an employee stays with the company. Overall, those who successfully graduate with the certificate can obtain an entry-level position that pays between $19,000-30,000 annually depending on what type of industry graduates get hired in.

Founded in 1960, FTCC has eight locations throughout North Carolina and offers a multitude of academic programs.
