Program Details

The online Graduate Certificate in Academic Advising program is designed for those wishing to enter the field of academic advising.  It is also for those who have a degree in another discipline but work in academic advising.  This program can provide a foundation in the theory and practice of advising.  Courses include:

  • College Student Development Theory
  • Foundations of Academic Advising
  • Counseling Skills for Higher Education Professionals
  • College Student Life and Cultures
  • Cross Cultural Counseling

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited university with a GPA of 3.0 in the last 60 credit hours of upper-division coursework
  • Work-experience in higher education such as community college or student affairs is preferred but not required
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Personal statement
  • Current resume
