Program Overview

Healthcare services are persifying, and as it is now, healthcare is a hundred billion dollar industry in the U.S. More medical services are available than ever and health care professionals are finding new ways to lower costs to help improve quality of care. Health care may not seem like a business, but hospitals and medical services are tightly bound by government assistance and available funds, resulting in the need for continuous innovation in health care management. As healthcare management needs increase and services persify, the demand for professionals with understanding of health care management and business administration will increase.

Florida Tech offers a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a Specialization in Healthcare Management. In fact, the program is unique to Florida Tech and is designed to specialize on a liberal arts background and then concentrate on healthcare management and business management. The program is offered entirely online for students who normally would not attend a traditional college classroom.

The lessons learned in this education include bringing change through contemporary behavior and classical organization theory, developing management techniques including planning, strategy, organization, staffing, and leadership, following and applying trends in managed healthcare, including organizational structure and management, and implement quality control systems, and developing reporting mechanisms to assess effectiveness in health care systems.

Business Administration students specializing in Health Care Management will benefit from the degree by gaining practical experience in various strategies and formats when communicating in an organizational structure, and examine biomedical and socio-ethical issues that arise in health care. Business Administrators will be decision-makers and will learn the processes and how to implement them in a health care environment.
