Program Overview

All businesses require inpiduals who have a solid grasp on the foundations of the business environment in order to facilitate the business process. No matter what your field, most people should know a small part about how businesses are structured in order to make themselves more valuable employees.  All managers are responsible not only for the employees under them, but for what they can contribute to the general health and success of the business, and that requires managers to have an education in business.

Those looking to become an entrepreneur and open their own business are even more responsible for learning about what is involved in owning and operating a business. A degree from Florida Tech’s Associates of Arts in Business Administration program may be the first step and the difference between success and failure.  The course offers a general liberal arts background to help the student become a well-rounded and educated inpidual and a basic introduction to the principles of business practices and business environments.  Florida Tech’s online education system allows students to possibly earn their Associate degree in as little 18 months.

Managers and entrepreneurs need to be able to effectively communicate their business and learn enough to have a practical understanding of the fields of accounting, marketing, economics, finance, law and management. Business people also need to understand that business is the process of identifying problems, identifying needs and meeting needs with products and services and solving problems with an effective solution.

The benefits of an AA degree in Business Administration are an education in the importance of decision making, planning, strategy, staffing, leadership, and dealing with chance in a business environment. In addition, students studying Business Administration will gain a basic knowledge of accounting, economics and law. The Associate of Art degree is meant to be a stepping-off point for entry level positions in business and management or as the basis for attaining a Bachelor or Master’s level degree.
