Program Details
The online Associate in Applied Science in School-Age Education program prepares individuals to work with children in elementary through middle grades in diverse learning environments. Students will learn to foster the cognitive/language, physical/motor, social/emotional, and creative development of school-age populations through coursework including care and guidance of school-age children, child growth and development, communication skills with families and children, computer technology in education, and physical/nutritional needs of school-age children. Graduates are prepared to plan and implement developmentally appropriate programs in school-aged environments and find careers as school-age teachers in child care programs, before and after-school programs, paraprofessional positions in public and private schools, recreational centers, and other programs that work with school-age populations.
