A Bachelor of Science degree in International Trade and Marketing is offered from the Fashion Institute of Technology to students interested in the retail, marketing, management, or design of clothing, and accessories. This program would also be ideal for those who wish to learn about international business and how laws, trade agreements, and international communications affect the fashion industry. Students will study how businesses plan, source, ship, and market their products across national boundaries and how fashion businesses are responsible for following the regulations of different countries with different trade policies, currencies, laws, and cultures.
This program aims to help students understand the international business environment and the processes involved in the development, transfer, and sales of materials across national boundaries. The curriculum consists of 67 credit hours worth of classes that include Strategies of Business Communications, Mathematical Modeling for Business Applications, and International Business Transactions.
Successful graduates of the program should be able to exhibit understanding of international trade as it is practiced by various industries that have developed international trade patterns, and the effect of the Internet on international trade. Graduates should also understand international trade transactions, specifically the use of agency, distributorship, franchising agreements, import and export, and licensing. In addition, participants should also be aware of the nature of business correspondence and communication strategies to elicit appropriate and desired responses from specific audiences.
During this program, students should have developed their understanding of research techniques and strategies practices in global marketing by the fashion industry and related industries, and the import and export regulations enforced by U.S. customer service, an understand the philosophy of ethics in fashion.

The Fashion Institute of Technology is a public, four-year institution of higher learning located in New York, New York. Founded in 1944, FIT is the one of the top five fashion schools across the globe. In 1975, the school received permission to grant bachelor’s degrees and just two years later also received permission to grant master’s degrees.
Students at FIT can earn degrees at the associate, bachelor’s and master’s level in addition to post-secondary certificates. FIT has five schools including the School of Art and Design, the School of Continuing and Professional Studies, the School of Liberal Arts, the Jay and Patty Baker School of Business and Technology and the School of Graduate Studies. FIT offers over 500 online course sections per year, including two online degree programs. Online courses run on the same semester schedule as face-to-face courses. Activities in online courses are the same as in a traditional class: students read course materials, write papers, do research, take exams, and communicate with their instructor and fellow students.
