Program Details

The online Graduate Certificate in Early Childhood Bilingual/English as a Second Language program prepares students to effectively support children in their learning the English language.  The curriculum is focused solely on children from birth to second grade and teaches students to work with diverse populations and teach them effectively.  Courses include Foundations of American Schooling and Bilingual Education, Assessment of New Language Learners, Language Development in New Language Learners, and Methods and Materials for Teaching New Language Learners.

Requirements

  • Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education with a minimum grade point average of 2.75 on a 4-point scale
  • At least one year of practical experience, or equivalent, with children and families in a supervised setting
  • A demonstrated suitability for the field
