Program Details

The online Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) program teaches the skills needed to teach in public or private schools in the area of English linguistics.  Some of the courses offered are TESOL Methodology, Language Assessment and Evaluation, Sociolinguistics, Second Language Acquisition, Cross-cultural Communication, TESOL Research Methods, Computer-Assisted Language Learning in TESOL, Individual Differences in Second Language Learning, Composition Theory and Rhetoric, and Literacy/Reading Theory and Practice. Graduates are ready to serve the increasing need for Teaching English as a Second and/or Foreign Language nationally at the college and public school levels and internationally in private and public institutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • GPA of no less than 2.75 in the last 60 semester hours of undergraduate study
  • Official transcripts from each institution attended
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • A one-page essay career goal statement
  • Copy of an updated resumé
  • A two-page admission essay
