Program Details

The online Graduate Certificate in Information, Technology and Scientific Literacy program introduces study techniques for collaboration as instructional partners in teaching scientific principles, methods used in STEM, designing and conducting studies and projects, and communicating evidence in multiple formats.  The curriculum places an emphasis on teaching 4-12 grade level students’ information and technology literacy skills which are critical to building knowledge and practice in STEM fields; equitable physical and intellectual access to resources and tools required for learning; and active, inquiry-based learning environments.  
Courses are:

  • Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Classrooms and Competitions: Asking Questions, and Defining Problems
  • Key Literacy Connections in STEM Subjects: Conducting Investigations, Analyzing, and Interpreting Data
  • Advancing and Defending New Ideas: Engaging an Argument from Evidence
  • STEM Skills for a Deep Technical Workforce: Obtaining, Evaluating, and Communicating Information

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field of study
  • Official transcripts
  • 2.5 minimum GPA in the last 60 semester hours of undergraduate study or 3.0 minimum GPA master's degree
