Office Assistant Certificate
Eastfield College offers an online Business Office Systems and Support Certificate for students interested in becoming Office Assistants. This program prepares enrollees for entry-level positions that require basic office skills. If the student plans to transfer to a four-year institution they should consult an advisor to discover the requirements for transferability of the courses offered through Eastfield. Students must meet required Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards as well as earn 25 percent of the college credits through the college awarding the degree.
The Office Assistant Certificate is a 16- to 17-credit-hour program that can be completed in one semester. Courses offered include the following: Computer Fundamentals or Introduction to Keyboarding, Computer Applications I or Records and Information Management, Business English, Administrative Office Procedures or Medical Administrative Support, and Computer Applications II or Word Processing or Medical Software Applications.
There is also an elective course requirement chosen from among this list: Business Math and Applications, Beginning Keyboarding, Cooperative Education- Administrative Assistant and Secretarial Science, and Cooperative Education- General Office Occupations and Clerical Services.
