Criminal Justice Certificate (Level II Certificate)
Eastfield College offers an online Criminal Justice Certificate that is attached to the AAS degree in Criminal Justice and gives the student the skills and academic requirements necessary to qualify for a law enforcement agency that expects a minimum of 45 semester hours of credit for acceptance. Students must meet required Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards as well as earn 25 percent of the college credits through the college awarding the degree. If the student plans to transfer to a four-year institution they should consult an advisor to discover the requirements for transferability of the courses offered through Eastfield.
The Criminal Justice Certificate is a 45 credit hour program taught over three semesters. The first semester includes courses in: Fundamentals of Criminal Law, Introduction to Criminal Justice, Composition I, General Psychology, and College Algebra. The second semester classes are: Court Systems and Practices, Crime in America, Introduction to Speech Communication or Fundamentals of Public Speaking, Juvenile Justice System, and Introduction to Sociology. The final semester courses are: Police Systems and Practices, Criminal Investigation, Correctional Systems and Practices, American Government, and Lifespan Growth and Development.
