Eastfield College offers an online Child Development Certificate that provides general courses in early childhood for students wanting to increase their skills and knowledge in working with children. Students must meet required Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards as well as earn 25 percent of the college credits through the college awarding the degree.
The Teaching Careers Certificate is a 26- to 31-credit-hour program taught over three semesters. First semester classes include: Educating Young Children, Child Growth and Development, Wellness of the Young Child, and a Child Development elective. Second semester courses are: Child Guidance, Curriculum Resources for the Early Childhood Programs, and two more Child Development elective courses. The final semester course is Cooperative Education- Child Care Provider/Assistant.
It is also import that the student consults the Child Development/Early Childhood Education Advisor or Program Chair before selecting elective courses so that the most appropriate course is chosen to advance career goals.
