Child Development - Infant-Toddler Certificate
Eastfield College offers an online Child Development Certificate which provides an in-depth study of infant/toddler growth and development, programs and services. If the student plans to transfer to a four-year institution they should consult an advisor to discover the requirements for transferability of the courses offered through Eastfield. Students must meet required Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards as well as earn 25 percent of the college credits through the college awarding the degree.
This Child Development Infant/Toddler Certificate is a 28- to 33-credit-hour program taught over three semesters. First semester courses include: Educating Young Children, Wellness of the Young Child, Child Guidance, Early Childhood Development: 0-3 Years, and a Child Development elective. The second semester classes are: The Infant and Toddler; Child Abuse and Neglect; Families, School Community; and another Child Development elective. The final semester culminates in an Internship as a Child Care Provider/Assistant.
