Child Development - Administrative Certificate
Eastfield College offers an online Child Development Administrative Certificate which provides the student with an opportunity to study administrative procedures for child care facilities. If the student plans to transfer to a four-year institution they should consult an advisor to discover the requirements for transferability of the courses offered through Eastfield. Students must meet required Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards as well as earn 25 percent of the college credits through the college awarding the degree.
The Child Development Administrative Certificate is a 33- to 36-credit-hour program taught over three semesters. First semester courses include: Educating Young Children, Child Growth and Development, Administration of Programs for Children I, Composition I, and a Child Development elective course. The second semester classes are: Child Guidance, Administration of Programs for Children II, Wellness of the Young Child, Introduction to Speech Communication, and College Mathematics or Mathematics for Business and Economics. The final semester courses are Administration of Programs for Children III and an Internship as a Child Care Provider/Assistant.
