Program Details

The online Certificate in Child Development program enables students to meet the entry-level requirements for employment in an early childhood care and education setting.  The curriculum provides basic knowledge of child development and the fundamental skills necessary to effectively educate and care for young children.  This program can also serve as partial completion for Elementary Education majors seeking a minor in Early Childhood Education.  Courses include:

  • Introduction to Early Childhood Education
  • Observation and Guidance of Young Children
  • Engaging Families in Early Childhood Settings
  • Literature for Children
  • Curriculum Planning and Development for Young Children

Requirements

  • Requires 24 credits for completion
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • All official transcript(s), including college (if applicable)
  • ACT scores or campus placement exams
  • Background check (if applicable)
