Program Details

The online Master of Education in Special Education from Eastern Washington University enables educators to gain insight into all aspects of educating students with disabilities. Focus is on managing student behavior, assessment of social interaction skills, student evaluation, and current issues in education. Students will learn how to produce individualized education programs, lesson plans, and evaluation reports. 

Classes include, but are not limited to: 

• Fundamentals of special education
• Social/Behavioral interventions and strategies
• Eligibility determination and data-based decision making



This course is offered fully online to enable educators to continue working while earning their master’s degrees in as little as one year. The School of Education programs are approved by the Washington State Professional Educator Standards Board. By obtaining the online master’s degree in Special Education, graduates will gain the credentials to advance their careers in the rewarding, high-demand field of special education.
