Program Details

The online Master of Education in Literacy program allows students to develop the skills to boost student literacy in a supportive learning environment and the knowledge to support the diverse learning needs of a PreK-12 classroom.  The curriculum is based on current research and best practices and applies to teachers in the field and those who are interested in becoming reading specialists in schools.  Graduates find positions as Reading Specialists, Title 1 Specialists, District Reading Curriculum Specialists, classroom teachers with enhanced skills in literacy instruction, and more.

A sample of the courses includes:

  • Current issues in education
  • Methods of educational research
  • Advanced reading methods across the curriculum

Students will study and understand the role of literacy in education over time. This online master’s program is designed for current teachers and does not lead to an initial residency teaching certificate. The online master’s degree in Literacy allows graduates to make a positive impact through literacy education in the lives of students.
