The Certificate in Education is a one-year program valuable for those seeking careers as educational assistants in K-12 education or for those working in early childhood settings. It is also useful for those wishing to enter into social services types of employment. An added benefit is that courses listed for the Certificate in Education may apply toward the AA in Education and support the student in advancing toward a bachelor’s degree and becoming a licensed teacher. This degree is also ideal for those wishing to enter into social services types of employment. Students may also pursue their teaching licenses, the certificate being the first step toward doing so.

The EOU College of Education maintains partnerships with three area community colleges for maximized flexibility. Students are also eligible for scholarships through several organizations supporting education students. Students will take the first step toward earning a bachelor degree, after which they will be equipped with the knowledge and skills not only to become lead teachers, but also to advance their careers through further graduate study. EOU’s College of Education offers programs in Early Childhood Education, Reading, and English as a Second Language.

The College faculty includes nationally and internationally recognized experts in their fields. Each faculty member provides students opportunities to master contemporary theories and approaches, and participate in practical experiences that enrich their lives and those they serve.
