The online Master of Special Education with emphasis in General Special Education is designed for teachers interested in continuing their professional development by becoming curriculum leaders and advancing their professional knowledge and skill levels. Graduates find careers as Level III special education teachers, case managers with companies working with individuals with special needs, education consultants, parental advocates for children with special needs, and liaisons between general education departments, special education departments, and schools. Courses include Low Incidence Disabilities: Theory to Practice, Gifted: Theory to Practice, High Incidence Disabilities: Theory to Practice, and Emotional Disturbance: Theory to Practice.

- An undergraduate GPA of 3.0 (applicants with GPAs between 2.8 and 2.99 will be considered for "conditional" admission; if accepted, candidates must earn a minimum GPA of 3.0 with no grade less than a "B" during the first semester or the first nine hours of enrollment)
- A letter of application to the educational studies graduate coordinator or the curriculum and instruction graduate coordinator
