Eastern New Mexico University offers an online Master of Education degree designed to provide increased knowledge for licensed elementary teachers who wish to continue their professional development, become curriculum leaders, or enhance their professional status.
Students may choose the thesis, graduate project, or non-thesis option for their course of study. Each option includes writing proficiencies and written comprehensive exams. Additionally, the thesis and graduate project options include an encompassing oral defense. Students should acknowledge that this degree does not lead to an elementary teaching license; however, it can lead to an additional endorsement area.
The Master of Education in Pedagogy and Learning is a 36 credit-hour program. There are three core courses (9 hours) which include: Teacher as Researcher, Seminar in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment, and Critical Pedagogy and Educational Reform. The student then must choose a concentration area consisting of 15 hours and 12 hours of elective courses.
