Eastern New Mexico University offers an online Bachelor of Occupational Education (BOE) degree designed for individuals who have earned or meet requirements for an associate’s degree from an institution with accreditation recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Likewise, those with significant credit hours in a technical discipline from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education may also qualify. The BOE is used to apply for Secondary Licensure in Vocational Technical Education to teach in community or technical colleges, trade or technical institutes, or business and industry settings.
The Bachelor of Occupational Education is a 128 credit hour program. Coursework includes requirements in bachelor’s courses (7 hrs.), general education (41 hrs.), major vocational or technical field (35 to 40 hrs.), and professional technical education (30 hrs.). Some of the professional technical education courses include: Cultural and Linguistic Pluralism, Students with Disabilities in the Regular Classroom, Methods of Teaching PTE, and a supervised classroom internship.
