Coordinated Program in Dietetics (CP)

Eastern Michigan offers an online Coordinated Program in Dietetics (CP) which combines classroom instruction with 1,200 hours of supervised practice labs. The program is 20 months in length and courses are taken in a specific sequence with practice experiences occurring concurrently. Online students are required to find their own preceptors to coordinate the supervised practice experiences.
Career opportunities in dietetics are varied and jobs are potentially available in clinical areas in hospitals, long-term care facilities, specialized health care environments, and at insurance companies. Likewise, a Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics offers the potential to work for federal and state programs like Women, Infant and Children’s Nutrition Program, Head Start and the Area of Aging, the FDA, and the USDA.

Eastern Michigan University is a large, public university located in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Established in 1849 as the Michigan State Normal School, the original purpose of the institution was to prepare individuals as teachers. As the university built up its educational courses in order to provide four-year programs, the university changed its name to the Michigan State Normal College in 1899. Over the next half century, the school expanded its academic programs past teacher education to include liberal arts four-year degree programs and became Eastern Michigan University in 1959. Students at EMU can earn their bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees.
