Program Details

The online Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education with a Master Teacher concentration is appropriate for teachers who already have licensure and are looking to get a master’s degree and also for graduate students who are not teachers but who are interested in earning a master’s degree that will enable them to work in other early childhood settings outside the public school.  The curriculum provides specialized education preparation for those interested in young children’s development from birth to eight years of age and their families, with a focus on promoting the optimal developmental environment for young children.  Graduates are prepared to take on leadership roles in early childhood education, teaching in quality programs for young children, administering programs, working with families, and community service.


  • A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution. Degrees from non-accredited institutions will be evaluated on an individual basis
  • An undergraduate GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale for domestic students, and a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for international students
  • A personal essay of 150-300 words, detailing your interests in a graduate program at ETSU
  • One official transcript from every college or university where the applicant has taken courses
  • Include three letters of recommendation
  • A current resume
