Counselors are responsible for maintaining moral in an educational institution by providing counseling services to students who are unsure of themselves or having difficulties in school or in their personal lives which may be a hindrance to their school development or behavior in school. Counselors are also responsible for helping students map out their class schedules and class electives, in order to focus on the classes they are most interested in, or which the student needs in order to complete their education. Counselors work at the K-12 educational level and also work as student advisors in the undergraduate or graduate level.

The Educational Specialist in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Counselor Leadership program is designed for those who are seeking professional development in fields beyond the graduate/master’s degree level. The program is for those who may be interested in seeking specialization leading to leadership positions in schools, educational organizations, or community agencies. The program affords professionals the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience by working with faculty who have experience in professional counseling with children, adults and families in a variety of capacities.
