Program Details

East Tennessee State University offers a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner program online, the Doctor of Nursing Practice in Mental Health Nurse Practitioner degree.  This is a terminal degree designed for advanced nursing students that integrates specialized knowledge, theories, and research from nursing science and related disciplines for application to nursing practice.  Students gain the knowledge and skills needed to take on leadership roles in the DNP degree.

The Mental Health Nurse Practitioner concentration focuses on teaching nurses to provide comprehensive psychiatric-mental health care to individuals of all ages as well as to groups and families in diverse settings.  You will be prepared to work in various healthcare settings and to collaborate with others in the healthcare team to ensure your patient receives the highest quality of care with the best possible outcome.  

Upon completion of this mental health nurse practitioner program students are eligible to sit for the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner national certification examination.
