    School Overview

St. Vincent's College was founded in 1898, and classes first met at St. Vincent's Church in Chicago. St. Vincent's College was chartered as DePaul University in 1907, named after Vincent de Paul, who founded the Congregation of Mission in France in the 17th century. The principal distinguishing marks of the university are its Catholic, Vincentian, and urban character.

DePaul has more than 300 undergraduate majors and graduate programs, so chances are good we have what you're looking for. Many of our professors work in Chicago as consultants, researchers and entrepreneurs, and incorporate their experiences in the classroom. Students can also take courses or earn an entire degree online. For years, DePaul has invested in developing award-winning training for online faculty, unique online curriculum, and digital learning tools. Online courses are small, just like those on campus.
