Medical Billing and Coding – Associate of Science
The Medical Billing & Coding Associate of Science Degree curriculum is designed so that upon graduation students are prepared for an entry-level career as a Medical Biller & Coder. These positions can potentially be found almost anywhere in the medical field: hospitals, clinics, doctor offices, specialized medical offices and even health insurance companies.
The medical billing portion pertains to an interaction between health care providers and the insurance companies. This process can take anywhere from a few days to a few months to complete, details and follow up are critical to ensure complete transactions. The medical coding portion is used to transform descriptions of diagnoses and/or procedures into one universally known language known as medical codes.
Several specialized courses help prepare the students for completion of the degree:

- Billing and Coding
- Record Management
The Daytona College of Medical Billing and Coding is recognized by the National Healthcare Association. Graduated students will be eligible for the Certified Bliling & Coding Specialist exam, and the Certified Electronic Health Record Specialist exam. The American Academy of Professional Coders will also be open to graduates for them to take the CPC-A certification.

Daytona opened its doors in 1996 as the Daytona Institute of Massage Therapy as a school dedicated to train students to be the very best at massage therapy. About ten years after its inception the private college expanded its programming with the addition of the Aesthetic Skin Care, Cosmetology, Allied Health and Business programs. Daytona College trains students for employment in specialized, technical fields.
Daytona awards associate's degrees, diplomas, and certificates in four main subjects: beauty and wellness, business administration, allied health and online programs. Students can receive a good number of these degrees and certificates from a distance as well, through Daytona’s online programs. The online programs also host many of Daytona’s continuing education classes—those available to community members, professionals or other individuals interested in enhancing their knowledge in certain subject matter. Examples include accounting and finance, teaching and education and writing and publishing.
