Health Information Technology – Associate of Science
The Daytona College Health Information Technology Associate in Science Degree is currently only offered online. This degree will enable the student to handle both computer hardware and software, and be responsible for maintaining several different components of health care information. The role of the Health Information Technology professional is to improve health care quality and effectiveness, increase health care productivity and efficiency and reduce health care costs. They will also compile reports and data for reimbursement. Assist with facility planning and marketing. Two high priorities will be quality assessment and research accompanied with risk management.
While completing the program for the Health Information Technology degree, the student will be required to take some general education requirements and also some specialized courses. An strong emphasis will be put on the technical and managerial experiences. Examples of some of the classes include:

The National Healthcare Association recognizes The Daytona College Health Information Technology Associate in Science Degree. Once a student has graduated they will be qualified for the Certified Electronic Health Record Specialist (CEHRS) examination.

Daytona opened its doors in 1996 as the Daytona Institute of Massage Therapy as a school dedicated to train students to be the very best at massage therapy. About ten years after its inception the private college expanded its programming with the addition of the Aesthetic Skin Care, Cosmetology, Allied Health and Business programs. Daytona College trains students for employment in specialized, technical fields.

Students can receive a good number of these degrees and certificates from a distance as well, through Daytona’s online programs. The online programs also host many of Daytona’s continuing education classes—those available to community members, professionals or other individuals interested in enhancing their knowledge in certain subject matter.
