Program Overview

Dakota County Technical College offers a Quality Improvement Certificate. The 17 credits that make up this program can be completed online. Careers in quality improvement are usually found where there are processes related to products and services.

Students will be required to complete the following courses in order to obtain the certificate:

  • Quality Management
  • Project Management
  • Effective Business Communication
  • Operations Management
  • Creativity and Problem Solving

Typically, people in the quality improvement department will create, implement and control the process. They then will work towards a way of creating measurable improvements of the process. Another role may be to create and apply action plans that will address quality issues within a company. To do this they may establish a method of standards based on specific guidelines. Quality improvement reports are a great way for the department to gauge what is going on and be able to then implement a plan of action to remedy the issue and improve the quality.
