Dakota College at Bottineau
When the state constitution of North Dakota was ratified in 1889 it included a provision for a forestry school to help promote the growth of trees on the prairies. Seven years later the Dakota College at Bottineau opened up as a School of Forestry, using the land around it as a foundation for study in forestry, horticulture, sustainable vegetable production and wildlife.
While the school is best known for its environmental studies, the two-year public college offers a wide variety of courses outside of forestry. There are Associate of Applied Science programs that provide two-year career and technical degrees in other subjects such as information technology and advertising and marketing, as well Associate of Arts (AA) and Associate of Science (AS) transfer programs that lay out the base coursework for a bachelor's degree.
