Certificate in Medical Coding
Cowley County Community College

Program Details

The online Certificate in Medical Coding prepares students for careers in the healthcare field through assigning codes to each diagnosis and procedure completed by medical practitioners at hospitals, long-term facilities, physicians’ offices, and more.  Courses teach students to consult manuals and rely upon their knowledge of diseases to complete meticulous work without errors so that patients and practitioners can receive proper insurance benefits, especially through the use of the CPT, HCPCS, and the ICD 9 / ICD 10 coding system.  This is one of the only medical careers where there is little or no direct contact with patients.
