Master of Education in Advanced Literacy Instruction

Program Details

The online Master of Education in Advanced Literacy Instruction program provides individuals with the building blocks of literacy and knowledge of basic literacy skills to teach students struggling in those areas.  The curriculum teaches students to be leaders in classrooms at all levels as they learn how to be advisors and advocates for literacy education, including language acquisition, literacy and literature, and instructional design.  Graduates are qualified to enter specialized leadership roles in their educational communities and to take the TExES Reading Specialist Exam.

Requirements

  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 (on a 4.0 scale); GPA of 3.0 or higher (Cumulative OR last 60 hours), student is admitted without the GRE, GPA of 2.75-2.99 (Cumulative OR last 60 hours), student must submit GRE scores
  • Official transcripts from the college or university where you earned your bachelor’s degree and/or attempted graduate coursework
  • A copy of your teaching certificate
