Online Masters Degree in Education: Curriculum and Instruction
Concordia University at Irvine’s Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction program is an online and campus located program designed for students who are developing their educational credentials and expertise while expanding their educational career options in administration. By offering the program online, students can access their lesson plans from anywhere and at any time, allowing students such as teachers with active professional schedules the ability to seek higher learning without sacrificing their personal or professional schedules to do so.
Graduates of the program will be demonstrate mastery of the skills of teaching, develop proficiency in the processes of education and learning, learn to develop curriculums and lesson plans, among the myriad other skills to be an effective educator and administrator. The purpose of this program is to give students a practical, accessible, and relevant education. Classes are focused on the development of critical, independent thinking and will provide students with an understanding of effective leadership and its effect on schools and communities. In addition, students will learn to develop a definition and assessment system that reflects their personal philosophy of education, which they can measure and improve upon with experience.
The program revolves around a curriculum designed to develop the student’s administrative capacity in an educational background. The course load includes classes in instructional leadership, curriculum & instruction, educational persity, educational research, and a series of electives on community learning leadership, school, communications & families, brain based teaching & learning, school persity, character & ethical development, stress & violence coping, fostering learning through health, and educational technology. Upon completion of the program, students will be expected to produce a Master’s thesis demonstrating their educational mastery of the curriculum, including an oral presentation in front of a board of educators responsible for passing the candidate’s eligibility to earn the title of Master of Education.
