Licensed teachers can learn specialized topics to increase their job opportunities with a Master of Arts in Special Education. This online program provides the skills and knowledge necessary to help children with a wide range of needs thrive in a school environment. Teachers with an Illinois teaching license can apply for an Illinois LBS1 endorsement after graduation.

Courses explore the methods, technologies, and assessments available for students with disabilities. You will learn about the various types of disabilities including learning, social/emotional, intellectual, physical, autism spectrum, traumatic brain injuries, and more. This online special education degree examines issues related to policies and laws, the continuum of services, inclusion, and least restrictive environments.

  • The LBS1 Endorsement requires Illinois licensure. Students with out-of-state licensure are welcome to enroll in the MA Special Education program, but are not eligible for the Illinois LBS1 Endorsement.
