Program Details

The online Master of Arts in Special Education Leadership program is designed for educators interested in the administrative work involved in leading special education programs.  The program is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge needed to engage in the practice of leadership in the special education field, including effective teaching strategies for students with special needs and understanding the role of each stakeholder and their contribution to the special education program.  Students also learn about the financial and legal implications of special education programs when making critical decisions impacting students, learn to develop and implement professional development plans that promote growth in personnel, and learn how to conduct research to answer questions related to special education practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Official transcript from each institution through which a degree was earned
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Objective statement of goals
  • Intended for licensed professional educators
  • Experience providing special education service (as a special education teacher, a speech‐language pathologist, a school social worker or school psychologist)
