Master of Social Work
Concord University

Program Details

There is no better way to impact your community and change the lives of others, than becoming a social worker.  At Concord, their online MSW prepares you to help others improve their quality of life and empower communities to achieve a level of social justice.  This CSWE-accredited program is dedicated to outreach in rural areas and as such, contains specialized coursework that focuses on that aspect.  First, you will complete general coursework, research, and a field practicum, since you will not have had this experience in your prior undergraduate work.  Then, in your second year, you'll complete specialized rural research and practice on an advanced level.  Outside of practicums and research, course subjects are likely to include:

  • Human behavior and the social environment
  • Social work policy
  • Appalachian culture, structure and environments
