CCD is part of the greater Colorado Community College System. Established in 1967, the physical campus is located on the original site of the frontier town of Auraria. As part of its mission, the college focuses on providing innovative programs which can be directly applied to the workplace or transferred. The school takes pride in its diverse student body, including a significant number of international students. And many on campus represent the first person in their family to enroll in college.
