Program Details

The online Diploma in TSA program from the Community College of Allegheny County is designed to help current Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) employed at U.S. airports improve their skill set. Upon completion of the program, students are able to:

  • Explain the broad range of federal policies and procedures enacted since the events of 9/11 and identify the major security problems linked to terrorism
  • Summarize the role and mission of the Transportation Safety Administration
  • Explain risk assessment principles in a real world environment
  • Identify the characteristics, ideologies, motives and behaviors of various extremist and terrorist groups that foster and support terrorist criminal activities
  • Describe intelligence gathering and analysis pertinent to homeland security and other threats facing government and private sectors
  • Describe the impact of technology on countering threats to transportation systems and border security
