Program Details

The online AS in Criminal Justice & Criminology degree program from the Community College of Allegheny County is designed to prepare students for careers in public or private agencies in law enforcement and corrections. Students choose one of three specialization tracks in Law Enforcement, Corrections, or Computer Forensics. The curriculum covers:

  • Components of the criminal justice system and its purpose and function
  • The juvenile justice system and moral dilemmas in the criminal justice field
  • The components of a law or statute 
  • Application of the U.S. Bill of Rights to the operation of the criminal justice system
  • The budgetary process and staffing levels of a criminal justice organization
  • The variety of methods used in evidence collection and the courtroom value of physical and testimonial evidence

Requirements

  • Official high school transcripts or GED information
  • College transcripts, if applicable
  • Placement test may be required
