Program Details

These health informatics online degrees prepare students for positions in healthcare maintaining components of health information systems.  Gain the technical knowledge and skills necessary to process, maintain, compile, and report health information.  This information will then be used for such tasks as:

  • Reimbursement
  • Facility planning
  • Quality assessment and research
  • Abstract and code clinical data using classification systems
  • Utilization management

Health information management technicians may also be responsible for the functional supervision of various components of the health information system.

Graduates are able to sit for the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification examination and the Certified Coding Associate (CCA) examination.
