Doctor of Business Administration
The Master’s degree is bestowed upon graduates who have reached the point of those who are experts in their fields. The title of Doctor Ph.D. is bestowed upon post-graduates who are now contributing to the understanding and knowledge of the field which they research and study. The course of study for a doctorate degree is a combination of class study, comprehensive examinations, project courses, research, and a dissertation, which is a document demonstrating the student’s research and contributions to the field of study.
Along Columbia Southern University’s programs available for study online is the Doctorate program in Business Administration. This program is intended to be completed online. Admissions are open throughout the calendar year, CSU is seeking doctoral students with strong intellectual and academic preparation, with managerial and at least two years of professional experience and with the capacity for disciplined scholarly investigation. At the end of the doctoral path is a final review by a doctoral board who will vote by majority to accept the candidate’s doctoral research. The program can be completed in 6 years, however the candidate has a 10 year period after entering the program to complete their dissertation and pass the review board.
The program is based on two paths, with the doctoral candidate either choosing a dissertation of research completed or a research project producing results relevant to the field of Business Administration. The required courses for either path involve managerial economics & business theory, doctoral writing & inquiry into research, statistics for business decisions & research, human resources management, business research methodology, corporate finance, marketing researching & competitive strategy, negotiations & business strategy among many other doctoral classes. The dissertation option involves comprehensive examinations, a concept paper, methodology, a proposal, a manuscript and students will be required to defend their dissertation. The research project requires a study of organizational psychology, and a project concept development, a development of methodology, and a submission of the research followed by final defense of the project.

Applicants are required to have an accredited conferred Bachelor degree and an accredited conferred Master's degree in business or a related field plus a resume showing two years of professional business experience. A Master's degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 will be required for admission to the doctoral program.
