Bachelor of Science in Psychology
Columbia Southern University

Program Details

Understanding the nature of human psychology has theoretical and philosophical underpinnings which require years of study to master. Understanding of psychology can be used to help individuals in need, increase the understanding of the mind, and develop techniques for business and organizations to help promote well-being of people in a professional or creative setting. The science of psychology is always in development, and professionals are not allowed to practice psychology in a professional setting as a psychologist, psychiatrist, counselor, or social work without a formal education and extensive licensing.

Columbia Southern University offers a Bachelor of Science in Psychology for those seeking growth as professionals as psychologists, psychiatrists, counselors, or social workers. The curriculum is available entirely online. Online classes benefit students who are either unable or unwilling to give up their careers or personal lives in pursuit of education. By taking classes out of the home or other location, instead of a traditional classroom environment, students can choose their own schedules for completing classes, allowing students to have versatility in completing their learning.

This course is not intended to be a licensing curriculum for psychologists, social workers, or counselors, but as a general survey of psychology. Students will explore topics such as history of psychology, psychological theory, research methods, technical writing, health care management, abnormal psychology, developmental, social, physiological, adjustment, learning, and cognitive psychology. After fulfilling the requirements for graduation, students should expect to seek further education and accreditation through licensing, graduate and post-graduate education.
