Certificate in Youth and Young Adult Ministry
College of Saint Elizabeth offers a Certificate in Youth and Young Adult Ministry for students and members of the church and ministry who want to develop their knowledge of Christianity and leadership in order to work with youths and young adults through the Church. Students will learn about biblical aspects of youth ministry and youth culture in order to provide guidance as a foundation and framework in the understanding of their social and psychological development. Through the program, students may develop their ability to communicate and guide youths and young adults through evangelization by understanding how to develop a program designed to minister to this group.
While in this program, students will study a curriculum that includes general education studies and specialized studies matching the education needed for their specialization. The curriculum consists of 24 credit hours of classes that include Skills and Competencies in Youth Ministry, Fundamentals of Christian Faith, and Identity and Pastoral Practice with the Living God in Foundations of Lay Ministry.
Students who successfully complete this program should have proven their mastery of the knowledge understanding of the Bible which will allow the student to apply the Bible toward real-world issues and intercultural issues in youth ministry, as well as help them form a Christian worldview. Graduates should also demonstrate understanding of youth issues in order to become a teacher and guide in youth ministries, be able to act as a leader and a competent professional in their role in leadership of youth ministries, and be able to display effective oral, written, and visual communication ability.
