Program Details

The online AA in Economics degree program from Coastline Community College provides students with an understanding of how effectively society meets its human and material needs. In addition to gaining computer proficiency and communications skills, graduates of this program are prepared to:

  • Apply the economic problem of scarcity and how it relates to choice, opportunity cost, and marginal decision making for individuals and society
  • Use supply and demand models to analyze markets, evaluate fluctuations, and determine changes in prices
  • Quantitatively analyze economic activity of individuals, firms, and the public sector


  • 18 years or older (if under 18, students must have graduated from high school, passed the California High School Certificate of Proficiency Test or the equivalent, or completed the 10th grade and received permission from their high school principal and parent to attend)
  • Placement tests for English and Math may be required
