Clarks Summit University offers a Master of Divinity program for men who want to develop their knowledge of the Bible. This program instructs on leadership in order to act as leaders in Christianity with foundations in the knowledge of the gospel and of Christian theology. Students will study Greek, Hebrew, theology, the Bible and church leadership as the foundation for the program in order to develop their knowledge of the history and the studies of Christianity. The program has several concentrations, including church education, church planting, global ministry, military chaplaincy, outreach pastoring, pastoral counseling, pastoral leadership, worship ministries leadership, and youth pastoring.
The program consists of classroom courses which emphasize real-world education through examination of cases and education which will be applicable on the job. Those classes include military chaplaincy philosophy and practice, governmental and legal issues in the military chaplaincy, preaching and teaching in the military, urban and inner city church planting, developing a fervency for the ministry, evangelism on the college campus, building next generations in the church, polishing the pastor’s preaching, the practice of pastoral ministry, and legal issues in the church ministry.
Through completion of the program, students will have demonstrated the professionalism and skill necessary to earn the degree. The qualifications demonstrate that the student has been able to apply the principles they have learned in the program into their eventual development as a functional affective professional in their field. These qualifications include but are not limited to: the ability to demonstrate effective preparation for Christian ministry and leadership responsibilities in congregations and other settings, to demonstrate ability to use the biblical text and theological and historical studies to enrich the spiritual life of others, to understand the means by which one may grow morally and spiritually, and by which one may lead others in positive spiritual formation in the likeness of Jesus Christ, and to develop the scholarly, theological, and reflective foundation that will provide the basis for further advanced studies.
