Program Details

Students completing the BS in Addiction Studies from City Vision University will understand the 12 core functions of being a Certified Addiction Counselor from a Christian viewpoint. This online substance abuse counseling degree shows students how to handle screening, intake, assessment, treatment planning, and aftercare in an effective and ethical manner. 

Graduates understand that other issues can affect addiction recovery, such as mental illness, family dynamics, and sexual and spiritual issues. After completion of the program, students will be prepared for counseling in both Christian and secular environments, including addiction counseling, treatment centers, rescue missions, the Salvation Army, and other urban ministries.

Students can choose from electives such as the following:

  • Technology, life balance, and behavioral addictions
  • Counseling alcoholics
  • Chaplaincy
  • Managing residential recovery programs
  • Sexual issues in addiction
