Champlain College in Vermont offers an Associates of Science degree in Accounting. The curriculum is 60 credits, and includes key accounting courses of: financial accounting, managerial accounting, intermediate accounting, tax accounting, and cost accounting. This degree program is built on the framework from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). The four competencies are: decision modeling, risk analysis, measurement, and reporting. These competencies provide students with a competitive advantage that will help them receive jobs in the field of accounting. Under the decision-modeling competency, students are to learn how to use strategic and critical thinking skills as future accountants. Likewise, under risk analysis, students are to understand business risk and how to control and manage audit risk. Additionally, measurement refers to various measure controls, performance measurements, and both quantitative and qualitative measures. Lastly, reporting refers to the communication of the financial reports in the accounting profession.

Champlain College is a private college in Burlington, Vermont, that was established in 1878 as Burlington Collegiate Institute by G.W. Thompson. The college has moved many times and changed its name but took its current name in 1958 and relocated to the Hill Section of Burlington where it lies today. Champlain areas of study include undergraduate degrees, online certificates and degree programs, and master’s degree programs.
In 1993, online educational programs were introduced to the college. Today, the school offers a variety of programs online. Certain associate’s and bachelor’s degrees can be attained by only using online programs. Many other degrees incorporate the use of online classes.
