Program Details

Champlain College in Vermont offers an Associates of Science degree in Accounting. The curriculum is 60 credits, and includes key accounting courses of: financial accounting, managerial accounting, intermediate accounting, tax accounting, and cost accounting. The general education component includes relevant coursework including: database management, communication, economics, and critical reading. This degree can be completed in 24 months. 

This degree program is built on the framework from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). The four competencies are: decision modeling, risk analysis, measurement, and reporting. These competencies provide students with a competitive advantage that will help them receive jobs in the field of accounting. Under the decision-modeling competency, students are to learn how to use strategic and critical thinking skills as future accountants. Likewise, under risk analysis, students are to understand business risk and how to control and manage audit risk. Additionally, measurement refers to various measure controls, performance measurements, and both quantitative and qualitative measures. Lastly, reporting refers to the communication of the financial reports in the accounting profession.
